Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?


We all do it sometimes. Procrastinate. It's so much easier to put off difficult things than it is to face them and just do it. I even find myself putting off checking email because sometimes that seems overwhelming. There have been times that I felt like my "to do" list was so long it was going to be impossible to complete it. That's when I make a list. On paper. Then I can begin to tackle each task and suddenly it doesn't seem so impossible. When the kids were little and something seemed too big and overwhelming to them (i.e. cleaning their rooms), I would say "How do you eat an elephant?" They learned very quickly that the answer is"one bite at a time." That has gotten them, as well as myself, through many tasks. Fitness, healthy eating, good lifestyle choices can really feel that way. It can feel like it's just too much. It can feel like the goal is so far away that it doesn't matter if we put it off until Monday, or until the 1st of the month, or even until January 1st. Setting a start date is great. Why not have that start day be today? Today is November 15. By January 1st, you could see visible changes in your body. You could have more energy, better balance, more flexibility, and a better outlook on life! Exercise is a proven stress buster and antidepressant. We are coming into winter and so we have to make a conscious effort to get out and move more. Consistency, even when it's cold, is going to make all the difference!
