My Gym is Closed! What Now?

So, due to Covid-19, I closed the gym on Monday. I would have been forced to do so on Tuesday by noon anyway so the choice would have been taken out of my hands. Monday I got word from Angela (my awesome landlord and ARNP from the next room) that some of my senior fit gentlemen had not gotten my message and they held class without me. If I'm completely honest, I cried. I love my senior fit group. They come no matter what. They see the strides they are making in their flexibility and their strength and their balance and they are dedicated to showing up 3 days a week, rain, snow, shine. I appreciate them so much and they make my heart so happy. They then gave me a call to tell me that they took turns choosing an exercise and did an entire class. This is what it is about. This is what I wanted. To build a community of people who could encourage each other on their journey. It doesn't matter if you are 15 or 75. We are building a community of people who want to have a healthier life. My Senior Fit group wants to be up and moving and able to get out of their chairs without difficulty. Be able to carry in groceries. Be able to walk up a flight of stairs without fear of falling. That's why I began HammerTime Fitness. My joy is seeing people become stronger versions of themselves!

So, here's the question: What do we do when my gym is closed?! I am working on some online options but right now, my saying has always been "Never miss an opportunity to burn a calorie." It especially applies now. I will get online training up and going as soon as my kids are healthy and I'm not spending so much time caring for them. But meanwhile, you need options! Right?!

Social Distancing means that we need to NOT being going out with our friends to workout. But you know what you can do? You can take some of the things you have learned from my classes and add them in at commercials. You can choose to do some high knees in between Netflix shows. You could even (heaven forbid!) do a certain number of burpees a day! The options are there. We just need to choose to use them. Remember, "Never miss an opportunity to burn a calorie". If you need something from upstairs, don't send one of the kids. If you need something from the van outside, don't send a kid. You go. It will keep you moving and you will be glad that you didn't just stay on the couch. We will get bootcamp back in session as soon as we get the all clear. But take this opportunity to put into practice some of the things that we have learned along the way. I will be posting workouts soon and have online personal training available soon! Thank you so much for your support and I am looking so forward to when we can train together again in person! Have a wonderful day! And, Don't miss an opportunity to burn a calorie!
