Why Consistency pays

Meet Tracy. Tracy joined me at HanmerTime Fitness at the beginning of June. She decided that she was going to really give it her all and be consistent in attending classes. She would look at her calendar and see what her week looked like and would come to the 5:30am class if the kids had something going and she wouldn't be able to make it to the 5:30pm class. She soon learned that nothing can get in the way of that 5:30am time slot except sleep and the more consistently she got up to come workout that early, the more her body (and mind!) got used to it and it became easier.
Here are some tips that Tracy would like to pass on that helped her along her journey in addition to being consistent in exercise. She used a calorie app to keep herself accountable with food. She shopped on the outside of the grocery store where the fruits, veggies and meat usually are. She limited sugar and carbs but allowed a splurge once a week. Another tip she mentioned was writing down her goals and her plan to reach them in a prominent place. Tracy was a runner at Iowa State in her college years so she is no stranger to putting in the work for exercise but she says that she feels stronger than she has in 15 years!
One of the things that I love about group fitness is the camaraderie you build with others that come to class with you. They help keep you motivated and they make you not want to miss a class because you would miss them and they would miss you! It's fun knowing that you will be greeted with a smiling face by getting up and getting to class at 5:30am and also in knowing that you will be that smiling face for someone else!
